Maulana Asrar-ul-Haq Qasmi is the Congress candidate from Kishanganj

Patna: Eminent Islamic scholar and noted journalist, Maulana Asrar-ul-Haq Qasmi, has been nominated for Kishanganj constituency by the Congress.

Thousands gathered around Maulana’s house and raised slogans in the favour of Maulana Asrar-ulHaq Qasmi and assured their supports to him.

Maulana Asrar-ul-Haq Qasmi is the founder and General Secretary of the All-India Talimi Foundation and had been the General Secretary of the Jami'at Ulama-e-Hind, for a long period.

After separation from Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, he founded All India Milli Foundation to create awareness of education among Muslim community and established many madrasas and schools across the country. He established a separate girls high school with hostel and all the modern facilities in Kishanganj.

He is a well-known Urdu journalist. He writes column for many newspapers and magazines and also good speaker recognized at the national level.

It should be noted that with the nomination of Maulana Asrar-up-Haq Qasmi there would be three Muslim candidates contesting from Kishanganj-the sitting MP Taslimuddin of RJD, Mahmood Ashraf of JDU and Maulana Asrar-ul- Haq of Congress.

Dr. Anwar Alam, a famous surgeon of Kishangang, said: “Maulana Asrar-ul-Haq Qasmi can throw out the hated political factors from the area and work for the development of the country because he is honest and favorite candidate among people of all sections and religions and he has done significant social and educational services” he said.

Maulana had contested the 1999 Lok Sabha election from the same constituency and was at second position after RJD Taslimuddin. Maulana did not take part in 2004 LS election saying that he did not want to be responsible for winning of any communal candidate.

Hasan Ahmad Qadri nazim of Bihar Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind congratulated Maulana Asrar-ul-Haq Qasmi and said that it will help Congress party because Maulana is famous personality at the national level.

Meanwhile Maulana Sauood Qasmi, son of Maulana Asrar-ul-Haq Qasmi, said that Congress gave ticket to Maulana on the basis of his social and educational services and also because of people’s demand. He also informed that Maulana would file his nomination papers on April 9th with his thousands of supporters.
