Lok Sabha elections: UDF to contest in Bihar and Jharkhand

By Manzar Bilal, TwoCircles.net,

Patna: Assam United Democratic Front (UDF) is going to put their candidate in Bihar and Jharkhand for upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“After getting historical success in Assam assembly election UDF planned to repeat this success in Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand too” said Dr. Baharul Islam, the national spokesperson of UDF, talking to TwoCircles.net.

“Though UDF was born in Assam which is different from Bihar geographically but there are many common problems in both the states such as unemployment and cruelty upon minority communities specially Muslims. On the basis of these very things UDF will seek votes” he said.

Talking to ToCircles.net, Dr Baharul Islam who is on the political trip of Bihar said that 17 candidates from Bihar and 3 from Jharkhand approached them to get tickets but party top leaders would decide on how many candidates on UDF tickets should contest the election from Bihar and Jharkhand.

“Though it has been decided that UDF will put their 8 candidates in Assam and 13 in West Bengal but the numbers of candidates for Bihar is under consideration and it will be decided soon” he said.

Asked how many candidates are expected to be given chance Dr Bahrul Islam who is also the general secretary of UDF said that it may be 7 to 10 in Bihar and at least one in Jharkhand.

Asked about the response in Bihar he said: “After visiting here I am hopeful that UDF will get success in Bihar but for that we will have to make efforts here on the pattern of Assam.”

He also admitted that they do not hope a great victory in the parliamentary elections as most of the people are unaware about the party. Therefore, they want to introduce UDF here by this LS election and will contest coming assembly election with all efforts and definitely will see some success then.
