Sahara Group launches dedicated Urdu news channel

New Delhi: Overwhelmed with the success of their Urdu publications like Roznama Rashtriya Sahara, Aalami Sahara and monthly Bazm-e-Sahara, the Sahara India Group on Monday launched 24-hrs Aalami Sahara Urdu news channel that will telecast its programs in 54 countries including India and Pakistan.


The channel was launched on 27th December that was 213th birth anniversary of Urdu poet Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib. The Union Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid inaugurated the channel by clicking the remote button at a grand function here at Le Meridien hotel in New Delhi.

The Aalami Sahara is being live-telecast in 54 countries of the world simultaneously. Besides TV, the live telecast is also being done on internet http://www.samaylive.com/live-tv-urdu.html. One thousand reporters, 50 bureaus 1600 V-sets have been engaged for making the channel successful. Besides, the sources of Sahara News Network‘s other channels will also help this Urdu channel.


On the occasion, the editor and news director of Sahara News Network Upendra Rai said that it is country’s first 24-hour Urdu news channel. “We hope it will earn appreciation from Urdu loving people as our Urdu newspapers and magazines did” he said.

The function was attended by a number of prominent personalities from different walks of life. On the occasion a book Mohajirnama (poetry) written by noted Urdu poet Munawwar Rana was also launched.
