Bihar Cabinet approves allotment of land for AMU campus

Patna: Keeping his word to the Aligarh Muslim University delegation earlier this month, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made it that his Cabinet yesterday approved the allotment of 250 acres of land for special campus of AMU in Kishanganj district. Talking to media persons state cabinet secretary Mr. Afzal Amanullah disclosed the cabinet decision.

It should be recalled here that in the first week of February a five member-delegation led by AMU Vice Chancellor P.K Abdul Azis visited Bihar to thank the chief minister for giving his nod to the allotment of 250 acres of land in Kishanganj. During the meeting the AMU V-C urged the chief minister to transfer the land in the name of AMU as soon as possible so that the work for establishment of the center could be started and it would be functional from the next academic session.

The chief minister had promised the delegation to get issue of allotment of 250 acres of land for AMU campus approved in the next Cabinet meeting. He kept his word by getting approved it in the Cabinet yesterday.


The Cabinet has also approved to grant Rs. 99.40 lakh to Bihar Urdu Academy for promotion of Urdu language and literature and Rs. 5 lakh to world famous Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library for its development.
